Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
An important official commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
